The Office of Education Programs at Granite State College established this “Ask the Expert” feature to share the expertise of our faculty and administrators with our teacher candidates and mentors as well as educators, parents and any interested person. You’ll find special sections for our advanced endorsement areas of Emotional & Behavioral Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities and Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. Questions relating to General Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education and Reading & Writing instruction can be posted below. We’ll arrange to have the most qualified person respond to your questions.

Welcome to OEP

The Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program at Granite State College (PBTC) is a job-embedded, field-based program designed with the working professional in mind. Using a mentoring approach, it provides the perfect blend of theory and practice for teacher candidates. It is approved by the State of New Hampshire for certification in the following areas:

  • General Special Education
  • Double certification in General Special Education & Elementary Education
  • Early Childhood Special Education
  • Reading & Writing Specialist
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Emotional & Behavioral Disorders
  • Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (formerly known as Mental Retardation

Candidates for admission must have a bachelor’s degree, a 3.o GPA, passing Praxis 1 scores and be employed in an approved New Hampshire school, public or private, as a teacher or para-educator. Strong candidates whose GPA scores are below 3.o or who have not yet taken the Praxis 1 may be considered for conditional admission.
